Rubbing from the "Mao Kung" Ting Vessel King Hsuan Late Western Chou Dynasty (ca. 9th-8th century .) The inscription on the "Mao Kung" ting vessel consists of 497 characters in 32 columns. The style of the characters, in seal script calligraphy, matches that generally found on bronze bells and ting vessels. Broadly speaking, all inscriptions on Shang and Chou bronzes are written in seal script calligraphy.
